Mise a l'eau Mise a l'eau Mise a l'eauThat's finally it, Salamba was launched a few days ago as we had to verify its unsinkability. It passed fairly well, as you can see in the photos on the right. On the first, you can see that the unloaded proa floats well above the design waterline, meaning that there is no obvious excess weight. The second picture shows Salamba with three persons on board. The main hull sinks until the waterline, but the float stays where it was in the unloaded condition. This is because we hadn't received the trampoline yet and had to sit on the main hull itself. Finally, the third picture shows Salamba as it would be with holes all over and loaded with four people and 40 kgs of gear. As there are no seacocks, we had to fill the boat until the level of water inside and outside was the same. You can see that the amount of boat left above the water makes it possible to go home, or even keep sailing !
